Greetings,

            I hope everyone has had an excellent start to the new year! We have been working hard throughout the winter to continue building our listing base so that we have a larger presence in the market and so that you, the real beneficiaries, can attract more business.

    As an update, GuideandCharter.com has become a member of the Florida Guide Association. We believe in the power of mass collaboration and feel as though this organization truly works for their members. If there are any other organizations that you feel may benefit from our membership, please feel free to contact us.

            I recently took a trip down to Boca Grande, FL to visit family, and was shocked by the poor whether conditions. Temperatures varied from 75 to 45 degrees, mainly hovering below the 60 degree mark, very uncommon. Nonetheless, the island is beautiful and I would suggest that anyone looking for a great fishing destination, consider this little oasis. The island sits on the gulf, and offers a fantastic town, with world class Tarpon fishing. After my visit I spent time recruiting some of the guides and charters from the area to join our site, so keep a look out for our new members.

            I hope everyone has had a nice winter, but get ready for summer; it is right around the corner.

125 Partner Charters and Guides

We have officially blown through our goal of 100 partner charters and guides. Thank you to all of our members. We built this site because we saw a need and while the winter is bound to be a slow time, we are seeing an uptick in joining members, meaning that members are only seeing a benefit from joining. In the month of December, it is no surprise that most members have been joining from Florida, which is also helped because we recently joined the Florida Guides Association. If there are other associations that you think would benefit from our membership, please let us know!

International Yellowtail Derby - San Diego

The International Yellowtail Derby is set to start on September 26 and run for 8 days of fishing and on the ninth day the winners will be awarded on Oct 4.

San Diego has a long history of fishing and is a Mecca for saltwater anglers. They travel from all over the USA to come here for the exceptional opportunity to fish not only the San Diego waters but to go to the fishing grounds off the renowned Baja California Coast aboard on of the Long Range Sportfishers at the San Diego Landings.
The objective is to have a World Class fishing tournament. This will bring back the same enthusiasm as the remembered Yellowtail Derby of the 50s and 60s. It will include both private boaters and the famous San Diego Open Party fleet. It will also feature a professional world class media center with Press Releases before, during and after each day with results and stories.

Sportfishing Destination Review: Destin, FL

Destin, FL is one of the greatest sportfishing destinations in the United States, and the number of fishing charters in the area proves it. Located in between Pensacola and Panama City (Florida) and directly on the Gulf of Mexico, Destin introduces anyone to what could be called, "Fishing Paradise. Charters do both inshore, deepsea and saltwater fly fishing trips, but the most common trips seem to be directed toward tuna, sailfish, grouper, mahi mahi and the like. It is important to do your research when going on a charter trip to make sure you are going to get your money's worth, and not just a trip around the jeti at the end of the peir. Take some time, read reviews and focus a little energy on making sure you will actually have to expel some while reeling in your trophy fish.
